EDO PhD candidates participate in this meeting that aims to be a place to share knowledge and experiences on research developed by Chilean outside its borders.

Over 80 Chilean researchers from various disciplines will gather at the Second Meeting of Researchers / as "Chile Watching from a distance", to share with the academic community their research and discuss the challenges and issues facing the country. The event will be held on 23 and 24 May at the premises of the Faculty of Geography and History, University of Barcelona, a city that has the largest number of fellows in the world Chile Scholarships.

During the two days of activities, are planned for thirteen tables. In these, researchers / students and residents as Spain, France, England, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, among others, discuss the environment, education, health, digital challenges, urban development, inequality, identity, heritage and memory. A central axis of the meeting will be the multi-disciplinarity, so these issues will be discussed from different approaches, methodologies and currents.

It also contemplates the realization of three plenary tables with Chilean and Spanish speakers, they will invite to reflect on key issues for the country. In this line, on Thursday May 23 will be the Plenary Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration for the Future, in which Dr. Xose-Pedro Rodriguez (IPHES-URV) and Dr. Ignasi Labastida (UB CRAI and President of Creative Commons Spain) reflect upon their experiences in conducting research projects which integrate knowledge areas from different intellectual traditions.

On Friday May 24, meanwhile, provides for the implementation of the Plenary Different perspectives on education. Focus on social and educational inclusion, with Dr. Meritxell Obiols (GROP, UB) and Dr. Neus González (GREDICS, UAB), who will discuss the various perspectives and challenges on education, with emphasis on social and educational inclusion . That same day, in the afternoon, there will be plenary Scientific and Research Institutions in Chile ", which will include the discussion of science policy, educational background and employment of Chilean researchers abroad, Dr. Jesús Sebastián (Researcher and international consultant, CSIC), Dr. Charles Blondel, (President of the Foundation More Science), Dr. Claudio Perez (President of the National Association of Graduate-Anip Researchers) and Mg. Rodrigo Torres (Academic Secretary of the Association EchFrancia).

Along with this, there will be two lectures by prominent Chilean teachers and researchers: Dr. Lautaro Núñez, National History Prize (2002) and National Communication Award of Science (2004), and the renowned philosopher and biologist Dr. Ricardo Rozzi, also honored with the National Award for Science Communication (2004) and the House of Peace in Sustainable Living Award (2008).

These academic, adds-on Thursday, May 23, a guided tour of the exhibition Arxiu Bolaño 1977-2003, the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). This exhibition, focusing on the life of Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño, is part of the tribute prepared by the CCCB to commemorate 10 years of his death in Barcelona.
