On March 11, 2022, Hind Naaman read her doctoral thesis.

The thesis prepared by Naaman, entitled "Examining the antecedents of dropping out of higher education and identifying prevention solutions study context: Catalan public universities entitled", has been supervised by Dr. Georgeta Ion. The thesis was read before the panel made up of Mònica Feixas (Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich), acting as President, Cecilia Inés Suárez (UAB), acting as secretary, and Marcelo Maina (UOC), acting as member.

Dropout from higher education has been considered a major concern for several researchers in the field of education around the world. Although different studies were conducted to address the issue, they all faced common limitations. This doctoral thesis explores the double research that has been carried out to investigate the abandonment of higher education in Education studies in two of the main Catalan public universities. In the first place, a review of the different theoretical perspectives that approached school dropout was carried out to combine the predictors of direct and indirect dropout. The study investigates the antecedents of dropping out of higher education in selected Catalan public universities, focusing on their faculties of Education to identify their main predictors of dropout. Second, the study identifies prevention solutions implemented in colleges to understand the gap and propose innovative strategies and tips to help reduce the dropout rate. The instruments used are the analysis of documents, interviews and surveys. The results were analyzed using the mixed method, revealing that dissatisfaction with the program and academic failure are the most important antecedents of dropping out of higher education in educational studies in Catalonia. This study discussion has given rise to two models that addressed the limitations of previous studies. One model projects higher education dropout predictors into a 5-layer figure called the "Dimensions of Dropout" wheel and the second presents ways for institutions to support students and prevent dropout during the student's study journey and It's called "Student".
