Grant for the project of the Higher Sports Council

The Higher Sports Council grants the Organizational Development Team (EDO) € 19,500 for the project "Prevention of intolerant attitudes in sports competitions at school".
The funded project aims to identify the problems and causes of intolerance in school sport by conducting a field study in different regions of Spain. From the analysis of the situation it will proceed a proposal of behaviour code for school competitions, which will be released for educational use in schools, federations, clubs and sports associations.
The EDO will act as general project coordinator from the Autonomous Universidad de Barcelona and work with the participation of researchers from University of Granada and the University of Castilla and Leon for carrying on the study of field in a first phase of the project.
The direct beneficiaries of the study are shall be the 50 schools directly involved in conducting the field study and the discussion and development of the behaviour code. However, the subsequent dissemination of the results of the study is expected to reach about 7,200 recipients and its application will be in more than 600 schools and sports groups.
The project also has support from the Spanish Royal Handball Federation, who has showed interest in the proposal from the very beginning, as it is linked with one of their main concerns, that is, enhancing the perspective of sports training and healthy competition.
