Joaquín Gairín retires after six years at the helm of CRiEDO and a long career dedicated to leading research in organizational development
Professor Joaquín Gairín Sallán, Director of CRiEDO until 1 September 2026, is embarking on a new stage following his institutional retirement. This marks the end of a 45-year career at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), characterised by a significant contribution to School Organization, educational research, and the University’s national and international outreach.
For six years, Joaquín Gairín has led CRiEDO, continuing a leadership trajectory that began in 2005 with his direction of the SGR Equip de Desenvolupament Organitzacional. In these roles, he has promoted numerous research projects, knowledge-transfer initiatives, and training activities aimed at generating, sharing, and transferring knowledge in the areas of educational leadership, management, and organizational development in educational institutions.
His academic and research activity has resulted in extensive scientific output and active participation in spaces for debate, exchange, and professional development. These include, in particular, the CIOIE and EDO conferences, as well as numerous conferences, seminars, and training activities held over the years.
At CRiEDO, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and recognition to Joaquín Gairín for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to research, training, and knowledge transfer. His career has made a significant contribution to consolidating an academic and professional community around organizational and educational development, and his legacy stands as a reference for individuals and institutions working in this field.
On the occasion of his retirement, Joaquín Gairín has written a farewell letter in which he reflects on this stage and shares some thoughts on his career.
