Laia Vila, pre-doctoral researcher and CRiEDO member attends the mSchools “Changing Education Together” Conference at the Mobile World Congress to keep up to date with advances and innovations in technology and education.
The event, organized by mSchools, brings together experts, educational representatives and Catalan schools to address the challenges and opportunities of educational transformation. Today, mSchools inaugurated with great success the day “Changing Education Together”, an event dedicated to exploring new perspectives and initiatives to improve education in Catalonia. With the prominent presence of the Minister of Education, Anna Simó, and the CEO of GSMA, John Hoffman, the event highlighted the importance of collaboration between different actors to promote educational innovation.
The day was marked by the presentation of the new stage of mSchools, with seven clear guidelines that will guide its future initiatives: educational success, emotional education, art and creativity, global awareness, language, culture and diversity, media education, and equity and inclusion.
Representatives of four Catalan schools, Escola Mansuet, Escola Mas i Parera, IES Castellet and Vedruna Sagrat Cor, have shared the results of their projects in collaboration with other organizations. Robotics and communication have been outstanding topics, showing the enthusiasm of the students and the positive impact on their training.
One of the most relevant novelties of the day was the presentation of mSchools Lab, a pioneering initiative in Europe that invites educational institutions to present innovative projects related to education and technology. This call highlights mSchools’ commitment to promoting creativity and experimentation in the educational field.
The keynote lecture by UNESCO education specialist Mark West closed the event with his presentation entitled “Looking Back to Look Forward”. West reflected on the evolution of technology in education and emphasized the need to manage the integration of technology in the classroom wisely. He has warned of the dangers of considering them as the only successful resource and has called on schools to design teaching-learning processes consistent with the true educational objectives, which must not forget skills beyond digital ones.
