Coordination meeting of BioBEC project

Today we are participating in the coordination meeting of BioBEC project, held online
Today our colleagues Aleix Barrera and Cristina Mercader have participated in the coordination meeting of the BIObec project, a project that began last September with the aim of promoting training in bioeconomy, and which is financed by the joint public-private initiative Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) within the framework of the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program of the European Union.
BIObec proposes a framework that merges the traditional idea of a training center with a knowledge node. The project will establish multi-tier Bio-Based Training Centers (BBECs) to act as knowledge nodes bridging the gaps between academic institutions, students, innovation entities and policy makers. Furthermore, BBECs are expected to be flexible enough to respond to the current and future needs of the industry and the surrounding local, regional and national ecosystem.
Right now, at CRiEDO, we are coordinating the development of a study at a European level that aims to identify what the needs, expectations and opportunities are for the creation of BBEcs (Bio Education Centers) at a European level. Along these lines, during the meeting the preliminary results of the previous qualitative study were presented, in which 98 professionals from the bio field participated through 19 group focus groups carried out in 13 European countries, and progress was made in the realization of the second phase of the study, which includes conducting a questionnaire at European level.
