Conference about the presence of women in positions of leadership

The conference, organized by the Observatory for Equality of UAB, is aimed at everyone interested in the state of the question and reflection on gender and power (especially companies and universities) and measures to take on the failure of equity.

The conference will be inaugurated by Montserrat Gatellérez, president of the Catalan Women's Institute, María José Recoder, commissioner for equality policies in the UAB Vice Presidency of Institutional Relations and Communication and José María De Dios, dean of the Faculty of Law. It will begin with the keynote speech "Keys to the power of women (analysis of the complex of gender pairing & power)", which will be given by Maria Antonia Garcia de Leon, emeritus professor at the Complutense University of  Madrid.

The following papers will be presented on specific issues "Quotas: With necessary?", By Tania Verge, visiting professor of the Department of Social and Political Science at the University Pompeu Fabra, "Women and business: the difficult access to positions of leadership", by Esther Barbera, professor of psychology at the University of Valencia, and" Women and participation in management of universities "by Marina Folch i Thomas, Professor of Teaching and Educational Organization in Department of Applied Pedagogy at UAB.

The conference will end with round table discussion "Experiences of ´managing´ women at the Autonomous University of Barcelona," in which Anna Masip, former administrator of the center of the Faculty of Sciences and the Faculty of Biosciences (till  November 15,  2011), will participate, Francesca Puigpelat, former dean of the Faculty of Law, and Maria Dolors Bernabeu, deputy director of the Department of Nursing at UAB who is working on her doctoral thesis under the EDO group, will also participate.

Before the end, the main results of the studies "The presence of women in decision-making organizations and the management of the UAB. PDI and PAS (2011) "prepared by the Observatory for Equality at UAB and funded by the Catalan Women's Institute, will also be exhibited, which are part of the" Second Plan of Action for Equality between women and men of UAB.
