Técnicas de investigación social y educativa

Year of publication: 2016
Authorship: Sergi Fàbregues, Julio Meneses, David Rodríguez-Gómez, Marie-Hélène Paré

This book introduces the reader to four data collection techniques often used in social and educational research: the questionnaire, the interview, the focus group and participant observation. In the research cycle, these techniques are implemented in order to gather a set of evidence that, once analysed, allows answers to quantitative and qualitative research questions. The nature of the information generated is a central aspect when deciding which technique will guide data collection. Each technique produces a different type of information and, consequently, provides access to different dimensions of the social phenomena investigated. For this reason, in addition to offering a frame of reference for the design and implementation of each technique, the book aims to provide the reader with the necessary skills to evaluate its relevance and suitability to different research situations.
