Tutoring should go beyond the resolution of doubts about a particular subject and assume a broader conception of guidance that takes into consideration academic, personal and professional aspects. The difficulties of integration and adaptation that some students face in the transition from secondary school to university; the choice of optional subjects; curricular itineraries; internships in different institutions; the professional development of students and their self-esteem, self-knowledge, self-development and self-realization, among other issues, should be able to be addressed from the tutoring action, considering that any student and person has educational needs that must be met, whatever their nature.
The book presented aims to present some elements related to university tutoring. It collects aspects of a diverse nature compiled by the EDO group’s Tutoring Team. In this regard, it reviews the different key moments of the students’ transition through university, while presenting some rarely practiced tutoring modalities. The tutorial action plan should be placed here as a summary document of the decisions taken at an institutional level on the formats and content that the tutoring and guidance processes aimed at students must adopt.
Its purpose is not so much the critical analysis of reality and the presentation of specific studies on it, but rather to provide some information and tools so that universities, degrees or teaching staff can advance in this subject. To this end, priority is given to diagrams and examples, while avoiding excessively technical and specialist language. We believe that in this way it can serve as a greater help for innovation and change in university tutoring.
