The management of the various types of schools, their administration and planning, as well as the different proposed models, have had an excellent development in the 21st century, both in a theoretical and academic framework and in its pedagogical and social consequences. The objective of the authors of this work, and of its coordinators, has been to bring to the scholars of the subject various current approaches to achieve an improvement in the management of educational centers in this new century, which perhaps began with less social problems and has been aggravated by the economic crisis that some countries seem to be beginning to overcome. The benefit of the crisis for optimists is that it generates creative solutions and the use of resources that until now would not have been conveniently applied. This manual begins its first chapter with a rigorous study of managers as agents of change in educational organizations. The second chapter, School Management as Leadership, pragmatically explains how, even if one is not born a school leader, one can become one with adequate training and support. Chapter three is dedicated to the risks of management in neoliberal culture, outlining the dangers that threaten schools and proposing a management model that is far from authoritarian and imbued with Latin auctoritas, which increases growth and trust. Chapter four deals with leadership styles and skills in school management, where an open-minded approach is taken to the role of management in processes of change and innovation. Chapter five deals with management and the work climate in educational institutions, a new approach in this update; The concepts of climate, their types and their consequences on the organisation and management of centres are analysed. The following chapter deals with a contemporary historical study of the management of educational institutions in Spain, pointing out the pedagogical and management innovations that have left their mark on current legislation, both at the national and regional level, and those lines of future that will undoubtedly have an impact in the coming years. All the previous chapters lead us to the seventh, the collegiate management in educational centres (reflection in the light of Castilla la Mancha) where many of the contributions and recommendations suggested in the theoretical frameworks described here, and in other multilateral ones (European Union, OECD, etc.) are collected and transformed into normative references.
