The present project seeks to provide guidelines to facilitate in university teaching-learning contexts the adoption of a learning oriented evaluation system. Specifically, the study we seek to conduct relates to how learning should be guided through evaluation.

The objectives of the project are formulated in the following terms:

  • Objective 1: Identify the evaluation systems put into practice in university education.
  • Objective 2: Describe the student conceptions and attitudes regarding the evaluation of learning.
  • Objective 3: Determine the main factors hindering the development of learning oriented evaluation, derived from the evaluation practices used and the students’ conceptions and attitudes.
  • Objective 4: Design procedures and tools to facilitate the adoption of learning oriented evaluation, overcoming the difficulties encountered for its implementation in the teaching-learning processes developed in higher education.

The development of the study takes place in two phases. The first of these is supported by interview methods, recurring to the application of a questionnaire aimed at the students, which is used to collect information about how they perceive the evaluation practices on the courses they are taking, and their conceptions and attitudes towards this evaluation. The second phase uses the results of the interviews to perform the design of the procedures and tools, which will be submitted to validation by expert judgement.
