According to the ranking published annually by the Time Higher Education (THE), the UAB is one of the top 100 universities in the world of those founded less than 50 years ago

Four public universities of Catalonia are included in the ranking of Top 100 universities in the world less than 50 years ago: the annual ranking of the Times Higher Education 100 Under 50. The Pompeu Fabra University occupies 13th position, the UAB occupies 23rd position, and the Ramon Llull University makes its debut this year by occupying the 66th position. The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya improves its positioning and is ranked 95.

The classification takes into account indicators such as influence, volume, reputation and income generated by research, academic programmes offered, innovation and transfer of knowledge generated and the degree of internationalisation of the university.

The first edition of this ranking was published in May 2012 with the aim of proving that universities could demonstrate acquiring levels of excellence in a relatively short period of time.

The THE 100 Under 50 ranking complements the data from the yearly THE World University Rankings, which is published in the month of October, and the THE World Reputation Rankings, also published in October.
