The UAB remains among the best universities in the world

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has once again ranked among the top 200 universities in the world according to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE-WUR) ranking, occupying the 199th position.

At the national level, the UAB is positioned as the third best university and the 86th in Europe, standing out particularly in the areas of research, teaching, and research quality.

During the inauguration of the academic year at the University for All, Rector Javier Lafuente expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved, despite budgetary limitations compared to other universities. Lafuente emphasized that teaching is the most outstanding area for the UAB in this ranking, reflecting the quality of the faculty and their capacity for innovation and adaptation.

The teaching indicators include the student-to-teacher ratio, the number of undergraduate and doctoral graduates, the proportion of faculty with doctorates, a reputational survey, and institutional income.

The THE-WUR ranking, prepared by the Times Higher Education magazine, evaluates universities based on criteria such as teaching, research, citations, knowledge transfer, and internationalization, combining objective information with expert evaluations. In recent years, the UAB has progressively improved its ranking in several prestigious international rankings, positioning itself among the best universities in Spain in rankings such as THE-WUR, QS World University Rankings, and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
