The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is among the top 50 universities in the world in veterinary science and ranks among the top 200 in 33 of the 49 scientific disciplines analyzed by the QS by Subject ranking.
According to the 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, the UAB is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world in seven disciplines: veterinary science (27th position), modern languages (72nd position), linguistics and sociology (both in 81st position), economics (91st position), and archaeology and geography (both between 51st and 100th positions). Additionally, the UAB is among the top 200 universities in the world in 33 of the 49 scientific disciplines classified by QS. It is important to note that the ranking reflects the absolute position of the University in each discipline, heavily influenced by the number of universities analyzed by QS in each field.
Regarding the classification by major areas of knowledge, the UAB ranks 116th in arts and humanities, 121st in natural sciences, 111th in social sciences, 135th in life sciences and medicine, and 231st in engineering and technology.
Since 2011, QS has annually published the QS World University Rankings broken down by scientific disciplines. This classification ranks the best universities in the world in five major areas of knowledge and 55 scientific disciplines, with the aim of helping future students identify the leading universities in a specific field of study. In this edition, 5,203 universities from 148 countries were analyzed.
The ranking is based on data from the latest edition of the general QS ranking, where the UAB is ranked 175th worldwide.
