The International "University and Shared Vulnerable" Congress brings together more than 350 experts in Veracruz (Mexico). 

On 29 and 30 October the Organizational Development Team (http://edo.uab.es) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, in collaboration with the University of Veracruz and Tabasco Juarez Autonomous University, has organized the International Congress "University and Shared vulnerable" as an end to ACCEDES project "Access and academic success of vulnerable groups at risk Iberoamerican environments", funded under the ALFA III call for the European Commission.

The intent of this event is to bring together academic as many authorities, teachers and researchers interested in the educational inclusion of groups that have historically resulted disadvantaged in obtaining a college degree. The call was successful, receiving more than 120 institutional representatives from the following countries:. Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain, France, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The objectives of the Conference were:
- Raising awareness of the difficulties of universal higher education for vulnerable individuals and groups.
- Discuss strategies, actions, programs and policies that support the academic success of vulnerable groups in institutions of higher education.
- Strengthen lines of work and commitments HEIs to improve the situation of vulnerable individuals and groups.
- Disseminate and contrast the achievements of the Project ACCEDES.

The ACCEDES project, developed between 2011 and 2014, aims to improve access, promotion and discharge of vulnerable groups academic environments risk of social exclusion in Latin America. To achieve this purpose has pursued three operational objectives:

1- To promote access and retention of vulnerable groups in higher education institutions.
2- Contribute to organizational development of higher education institutions in the implementation of actions to improve access, academic excellence and egress phase.
3- Promote networks of practice among institutions of higher education in Latin America.

Fruit of the project has generated a variety of materials, reviewable on the project website (http://edo.uab.cat/accedes) that are useful for implementing inclusion strategies, retention and graduation of students with vulnerable characteristics in institutions of higher education.
