EDO-UAB member, David Rodríguez, has published altogether with other authors, a book about social and educational research techniques.
David Rodríguez, EDO-UAB member, altogether with Sergi Fàbregues, Julio Meneses and Marie-Hélène Paré, has recently published a guide named “Social and Educational Research Techniques”.
This book introduces to the reader to four data collection techniques, frequently applied in social and educational research: surveys, interviews, focus groups and participant observation. In the research cycle, these techniques are implemented in order to agglutinate a set of evidences that, once they are analyzed, help to answer qualitative and quantitative research questions.
The nature of the information generated is a central aspect once you have to decide the technique that will guide the data collection Every technique generates a different kind of information and, consequently, gives Access to different dimensions of the social phenomena investigated. Because of it, besides giving a reference framework for designing and implementing every technique, this book aims to help develop the competences needed to evaluate their relevance and adequacy to different research situations.
