Formal meeting with the main stakeholders on migration and education based in Brussels to introduce the SIRIUS policy network

On Monday 11th March the general coordination of SIRIUS policy network and the Steering Committee organized a formal lunch meeting with the aim to introduce the SIRIUS policy network to the main organizations of the civil society and the official EU bodies whose main topics are education and/or migration.

This was one of the first SIRIUS activities of 2013. The meeting took place in the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union and 25 people attended to the lunch. During three hours the participants could share information and first impressions about this new network born in 2012 and whose general coordination is placed in the UAB.

The main aim of the SIRIUS policy network is to influence the policy implementation on the education area at European, national and local level. The objective of these policies is to close the gap between children and youngsters form migrant background and their native peers. In order to achieve this goal, the SIRIUS network wants to be a platform where the three main actors of the policy implementation (policymakers, researchers and practitioners) could share and create knowledge.
