New teaching innovation project 2023

New financing for the development of a project for the improvement of teaching quality UAB 2023 has been obtained.

The project entitled “BOOST: Promoting the development of Digital Teaching Competence in the grades of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education” coordinated by Professor Cristina Mercader (CRiEDO – Department of Applied Pedagogy) aims to prepare innovative teaching materials for teaching with digital technologies, implement the teaching materials created in the classroom, and propose a workshop for the faculty of the Faculty of Educational Sciences to incorporate the materials produced.

Recently, the Department of Education, through its digital education plan, has marked the 2023-2024 academic year as the maximum date on which the Digital Teacher Competence (CDD) must be integrated and worked specifically in the study plans of the degrees. of Primary Education and Early Childhood Education to guarantee that students who finish these grades acquire Digital Teaching Competence, at least, at an initial level. The Digital Teacher Competence, according to the Framework of the Department of Education, does not only refer to the development of instrumental skills with digital technologies, but also the digital look at various dimensions: didactics, organization, communication, citizenship and professional development.

Currently, the degrees of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, through the development of the CDDPla project carried out during the 2021-2022 academic year, are being adapted to the requirements of developing the CDD in different subjects. However, the teachers who teach in the grades must become digitally competent teachers to be able to train future teachers in this competence.

According to recent studies such as those carried out at the Faculty of Noguera, Sala and Valdivia (2020) or the CODIDOE and CDDPla projects of the Faculty, they show that teachers need a digital Faculty strategy that allows the monitoring of their training regarding the CDD and the consequent integration of the Digital Teaching Competence in the different subjects they teach.

In this sense, it is imperative to promote the development of CDD through innovative and inclusive practices of CDD as well as to train university teachers, both for those who will be able to develop CDD in their agreed subjects in the CDDPla project, as well as in the rest of the teaching staff who teach subjects in the Faculty’s degrees to meet the needs that today’s society demands.

More information on the project is available at the summary.
