Access and retention in college does not offer, today, the same opportunities to all citizens who are able to pursue higher education. Economic, cultural, social or gender reasons meaningfully punish certain groups, who see less chance of achievement and personal and social development.
The present contribution complements other already published previously (http://accelera.uab.cat/documents_edo/biblio/Accedes_libro2012.pdf), contains reflections on the inclusion of vulnerable groups in college, driving and guiding planning processes to their attention and a set of strategies that provide guidance and mentoring intervention. The aim is to support the development of a university whose mission and goals are aimed at promoting the inclusion of all students.
It is, in short, to support the development of a university whose mission and objectives are aimed at promoting the inclusion of all students, and especially those who are in a vulnerable position and can bring out the ability or inability of the university system to achieve a balance between quality and equity.
The ACCESSING Project (http://edo.uab.cat/accedes), funded by the European Union and contributes to the second of its specific objectives set: "To contribute to organizational development of higher education institutions in the implementation of actions to improve access, academic excellence and exit phase." It is, somehow, one of his contributions to the improvement of inclusion in higher education in Latin America.
