Inclusive cultural policies – INVENT

The INVENT project already has its website available from which to make its activities known to everyone.
The New EU Agenda for Culture (2018) represents an exceptionally significant step forward in European cultural policy. However, it seems to us that this remarkably important new approach of the EU in the field of culture is accompanied by theoretical and methodological challenges, which must be considered in the process of realizing the objectives presented.
The INVENT project, financed with European funds, analyzes the possible influence that globalization, European integration, migratory waves, the digital revolution and the increase in social inequalities have on European citizens. The project aims to create new methodologies for understanding the value of culture in European societies. In this sense, it investigates the social and cultural premises for the successful implementation of the New European Agenda for Culture. It will also identify how culture supports identity, tolerance, belonging and social cohesion.
The changes that Europe and the world have undergone in the last thirty years are so drastic that they require a different approach to creating cultural policy. The intention of INVENT is to study how the way of life and cultural participation of European citizens has been influenced by the mega trends of globalization, European integration and the migrations that accompany them, the digital revolution and the growing social inequalities, and noted that this requires a "social turn" in cultural policies. The bottom-up approach that will be used will also provide us with insight into the multiple, often mutually contradictory, concepts of culture and understanding of the social values of culture among various social groups (demographic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious ... ) in Europe.
