Inaugural Speech

EDO-UDL gives today the starting shot of the third edition their Postgraduate studies in Management and Leadership of Educational institutions with a lecture named “Educational system in the 21^st century in a liquid world” that will be taught by Mr. Alberto del Pozo Ortiz, General director of Teachers and Public Centres Staff of the Teaching’s Department of Generalitat de Catalunya in the period between 2012 and 2015. The activity will be carried on in the Auditorio de Centro de Culturas y Cooperación Transfronterera at Campus Cappont of UDL (C/ Jaume II, 67bis, Lleida).

Del Pozo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Literature by Universitat de Barcelona (1971). The last 30 years he has hold different positions in the Teaching’s department related to managing educational staff. Thus, he has been service chief of Bachelor teachers (1982-1987), assistant general director of Teachers (1987-2000), assistant general director of Provision and Definition of working positions for teachers (2000-2001), assistant general director of Labour relations and Social Affairs (2001-2005). He is Professor in Greek and author in several contributions in ancient Greek. Also, he contributed in the regulations of educational system and has participated as a teacher in training courses addressed to educational staff of the Teaching’s Department. Finally, it is important to highlight that del Pozo received in 2007 the “Cruz de Alfonso X el Sabio” from the Ministry of Education for his professional activity.

Postgraduate studies in Management and Leadership of Educational institutions (GEDIOE), validated by Teaching’s Department according to the resolution on 10th of November 2015 for the purpose of training for managing public educational centres, was born with the purpose of introducing to primary and secondary teachers in the leadership role from a perspective of strategic vision, change management, democratic leadership, orientation to results, decision making from data, and ethical and responsibility in management. To achieve it, it has as a main objective to develop professional abilities of the new management profile that enhance total implication of all educational community in the same project in their institution, in the context of an environment where they should know how to extract educational opportunities that are offered, promote networking, strategies to manage change and veil for transparency and efficiency as a condition to achieve improvement..
