HEIDA Meeting
Last 26th and 27th of October, it took place in Barcelona the coordination meeting of HEIDA’s Project and an open seminar to university community.
Following the planning and development of HEIDA’s Project “Data driven decision making for internationalization of higher education”, last 26th and 27th of the current month, it has been developed an internal meeting and an open seminar to the community to present and contrast the results achieved until the moment in the project. Both activities contribute to obtain the main purposes of the project: (1) create awareness and train senior management, academics and administrative personnel so that they understand the value of internationalisation, using data for overall improvement.; and (2) design, validate and implement a tool/platform that can be employed to internationalise IES activities, creating an accessible and user-friendly space that contributes to understanding institutional improvement through interconnecting activities and internationalising at a European level.
The open seminar, which counted on a significant representation of responsible figures and institutional managers, was used to present the study cases analysed by all partners of the Project with reference to current use of indicators of internationalization of higher education. Hereafter, the session helped to work, all together with the attendants, different aspects related to three key elements of the Project (a) strengths and weaknesses of the internationalization data collection practices in their institutions; (b) proposals for a training programme addressed to academics, administrative and decision makers; and (c) strategies to enhance the use of data for decision making process.
At the same time, the seminar was useful to inform and encourage the participation of the attendants in the activities that the Project will develop in the upcoming months, such as the implementation of a survey to know the state of art in higher education institutions in the countries working in the Project, the development of a training program addressed to different groups of the university community and the development of a tool to exchange information and data about internationalization..
