Georgeta Ion in Durham

Dr. Georgeta Ion is doing a stay at the University of Durham.
Between October 4 and December 10, Georgeta Ion has been doing a stay as a visiting professor at the Institute of Advanced Study of the University of Durham (United Kingdom).
Founded in 2006, L'institute of Advanced Study invites each year a limited number of professors and researchers, a unique space for disciplinary and interdisciplinary transformative reflection.
Professor Ion is one of the guests to participate in the Mind the Gap project, along with 2 other researchers, led by Professors Chris Brown and Simon James. The goal of this project is to use both the concepts of social capital and cultural capital, as well as network theory to explore the social and cultural capital that advantaged and disadvantaged children can access and to hypothesize what impact differences will have on key skills, knowledge and behaviors necessary for them to thrive both in school and in the future. During her stay she has participated in interdisciplinary seminars and has given a seminar and a conference on the development of the research capacity of teachers and schools of primary and secondary education.
