Gemma París carries out a research stay at Teachers College, Columbia University (New York)

Gemma París, professor and member of CRiEDO, will undertake an international research stay at Teachers College, Columbia University (New York, United States), from 1 July to 30 September 2026.

The aim of the stay is to analyse the Master’s and Doctoral programmes in Art and Art Education offered by this internationally renowned institution, with a particular focus on its innovative models of education, research, and community engagement.

During the stay, she will examine the curricular design of these programmes, approaches to artistic and arts-based research, and the collaboration models established between universities, schools, museums, and cultural centres. This analysis will provide deeper insight into strategies that integrate research, educational practice, and engagement with artistic and cultural contexts.

The knowledge and experience gained will contribute to strengthening CRiEDO’s research lines and to enhancing postgraduate programmes, teacher education, and educational innovation initiatives at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Likewise, the outcomes of the stay will offer new perspectives for the development of educational programmes and research projects in the field of art education.

Furthermore, this experience will contribute to the researcher’s professional development by strengthening her expertise in university research and teaching, curriculum design, art education, artistic research, educational innovation, the coordination of international projects, and the establishment of collaborative networks among universities, schools, museums, and cultural institutions.

The stay is funded through the 2024 Senior Research Mobility Grants of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, a programme aimed at promoting the internationalisation of research and strengthening academic and scientific networks.
