Extraordinary Doctorate Award

Cristina Mercader, of the EDO Group, has been awarded the extraordinary doctorate prize.
The Doctoral School held the half-yearly event in which the extraordinary Doctorate awards are presented and where the Doctor titles are also delivered. In this sense, the UAB, with 66 doctoral programs, is one of the leading Catalan universities in terms of thesis production and generates approximately one third of the Catalan thesis that are produced annually.
The Extraordinary Awards value those thesis that have received the grade of Outstanding Cum Laude, and that, according to the CAPD of each doctoral program, has stood out for its contribution and progress in the different areas on which the UAB works. The aim of the delivery is to value the effort and dedication of the young researchers and their contribution to the generation of knowledge.
Cristina Mercader has been awarded for the thesis called 'Digital technologies in university teaching. Barriers to its integration.' Mercader's thesis focuses on university teaching staff and the reasons why they don’t use digital technologies in a habitual way as a teaching-learning tool in the classroom. The thesis aims to analyze the reasons for the lack of integration of ICT in teaching, explain why it happens and what phenomena explain their existence, to identify the way to address and mitigate them.
