Katherine Roberts will defend her doctoral thesis today October 29 in front of the court formed by President Isabel Del Arco Bravo (University of Lleida), Secretary Maria del Mar Duran (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and vocal Elena Cano García (University from Barcelona).
The thesis entitled "Knowing pedagogical evaluation of teachers working in vulnerable schools in the commune of Arica-Arica and Parinacota Region, Chile" has been directed by David Rodríguez Gómez (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and Patricia Silva García (University of Lleida ).
The research has aimed to analyze the evaluation practices of teachers who work in vulnerable contexts, in order to identify the strategies used by them, to address the vulnerability of their students, identifying the demands that, from their experience, they make to the initial formation.
The study is qualitative, using the information collection technique, the semi-structured interview and the discussion group, and was conducted in vulnerable schools of the Commune of Arica-Chile, during the first half of 2018.
The results show that teachers use evaluative strategies that promote dialogue, group reflection and critical ability of students, through procedures that encourage their self-assessment, co-evaluation and metacognition.
