Experts discuss how to combat intolerance in school sports

On 21 February, UAB will host the Conference on prevention of intolerance in sports competitions, which will discuss how to forbid xenophobic attitudes of youth sport.

Experts from academic and sports areas will discuss the possible measures to prevent racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in school sports competitions. In addition, the research team will present the study "Prevention of intolerant attitudes in school sports competitions" and the code of behaviour that researchers of the Organizational Development Team (EDO) of the UAB have developed.

This conference is an initiative of EDO in collaboration with the Superior Sports Council. It will be held at 17:00 at the Campus Hotel . It targets at sports coaches, referees, coaches, physical education teachers, parents, educational institution leaders, athletes and students.

The conference will be inaugurated by Carme Armengol, Vice-dean of the Board of Academic Degree of the Faculty of Education, and Joaquin Gairín, director of the Department of Applied Pedagogy at UAB. After that, there will be a round-table discussion with participation of Jordi Pallares, ASOBAL manager, Joan Estrada, an expert in sport pedagogy, Lucas Cruz, co-pilot and champion of Dakar Rally and Juan Piqueras, president of Cerdanyola Hockey Club. Finally, after a pause, the team will present the study and the code of behaviour realized by EDO.
