Cristina Mercader, professor and member of CRiEDO, will participate in the Teaching Innovation Conference to be held on 16 July 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of the School of Engineering at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
The conference will bring together academics and professionals from different fields to reflect on some of the main challenges currently facing higher education teaching, with special attention to the impact of artificial intelligence on teaching and learning processes.
Cristina Mercader will open the first session of the conference, entitled “The Perfect Storm: Teaching and AI,” with her presentation “Reflections on University Education in the Context of AI.” Her talk will address the changes that artificial intelligence is bringing to higher education and the challenges it poses for university training and learning.
The programme also includes presentations by Jordi Vitrià (University of Barcelona), Sergi Robles and Adrià Sánchez-Carmona (UAB), as well as a panel discussion on special educational needs and a closing keynote by Marta González, recipient of the 8th UAB Award for Teaching Excellence.
This conference provides a forum for exchange and discussion on teaching innovation and highlights the commitment of UAB faculty to improving teaching quality and adapting to emerging educational contexts.
