CRiEDO at the RIEEB Congress

CRiEDO participated in the First International Congress of the Red Internacional de Educación Emocional y Bienestar (RIEEB).
On 23rd October Joaquín Gairín participated in the Symposium 'Healthier educational centers. Reflections and proposals', organized within the framework of the International Congress of the RIEEB: Key emotional competencies for well-being promoted by the International Network of Emotional Education and Well-being (RIEEB). Gairín's contribution focused on the presentation of strategies and analysis instruments for healthy educational centers.
The symposium was based on the idea that educational centers must be safe, protected, comfortable environments that promote the well-being of both students and teachers. The importance given to safety and health increases as its direct influence on the comfort level of students and teachers and on improving the quality of teaching and learning is known. The concept of "healthy organization" has been developed in recent decades, considering organizations more as spaces for the development of healthy work management than just for the promotion of practices focused exclusively on the prevention of physical or psychological risk. In fact, the new approaches speak of the three 's', referring to safe, healthy and sustainable environments. This contribution presents a model for the diagnosis and improvement of educational centers as safe and healthy organizations. The model includes a theoretical foundation, the consideration of stages of development in the subject and an instrument, validated by experts and by application in 40 centers in Catalonia and Andalusia by 115 managers and teachers, which allows diagnosing the degree of development of the safe organization and healthy, guide the planning of necessary improvement processes and evaluate the change made.
