BIObec coordination meeting

biobec-mayo-2022
Projects

On 9th May 2022 it was celebrated an online follow-up meeting of the BIObec project with all the partners.

Aleix Barrera, Cristina Mercader and Joaquín Gairín have participated on behalf of the UAB in this meeting, where Barrera has presented the progress of the activities carried out by the UAB, specifically the work linked to the analysis of the expectations of the different stakeholders questioned by the project (industry, administrations, universities and educational centers) in relation to the creation and start-up of BBEc centers.

The meeting has served to carry out a review of all the activities carried out to date, as well as to make decisions regarding the actions to be undertaken in the coming months. Among them, the celebration of regional Workshops and a Workshop at European level that aim to deepen the results achieved in the first stage of the project stand out.

BIObec aims to promote training in the bioeconomy and is funded by the joint public-private initiative Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) within the framework of the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. This program proposes a framework that merges the traditional idea of a training center with a knowledge node. The project will establish multi-tier Bio-Based Training Centers (BBECs) to act as knowledge nodes bridging the gaps between academic institutions, students, innovation entities and policy makers. Furthermore, BBECs are expected to be flexible enough to respond to the current and future needs of the industry and the surrounding local, regional and national ecosystem.
