Anna Díaz and Aleix Barrera participate in the ASCENT project launch meeting.

This week the ASCENT project launch meeting - Competence centers for automotive engineering and sales management to increase the positive impact on regional economic development in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, funded under the Erasmus Plus Program - took place this week in Graz (Austria). Capacity Building of the European Union with reference 585796-EPP-1-2017-1-AT-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP.

ASCENT, coordinated by the FH-Joanneum, aims to reduce the existing gap between the university and productive sectors in the universities of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. In this sense, throughout the project actions will be articulated to promote the interrelation between the productive sector and the universities with the aim of favoring a greater adaptation of the professional skills of the future graduates to the needs of the sector, as well as a participation of the companies in the actions of the universities.

On the part of the group EDO-UAB the professors Aleix Barrera, Diego Castro, Anna Díaz and Joaquín Gairín will participate in the project, with the collaboration of Grabriel Izard, professor of the Department of Economics and Business of the UAB. From EDO, 2 of the 8 work packages that make up the project will be coordinated. Specifically, work package 2, aimed at the design, implementation and evaluation of training actions aimed at staff of Latin American universities participating in the project in which teachers from the UAB, FH Joanneum (Austria) and the Hochschule Aalen (Germany) will participate as trainers ). The modules to be developed will be linked to the new trends in automotive engineering, the development of automotive test benches, the development of soft skills (communication, entrepreneurship, networking ...) and the development of teaching competencies. The other work package coordinated by EDO will focus on monitoring the quality of the development of the project in collaboration with the entity WUS Austria.
