On April 21, 22, and 23, a new working meeting of the European FUESE project took place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
The aim of the FUESE Project is to strengthen the impact of higher education institutions on the socioeconomic ecosystem through impact assessment and the transformation of institutional policies and practices.
Within this framework, the meeting held in Barcelona aimed to follow up on the activities carried out during the third year of the project and to define the next steps. During the three-day meeting, participants worked on the development of the Impact Assessment Toolbox and strategies for transforming university structures. They also attended an open Forum coordinated by the Fundació Autònoma Solidària and the Institute of Education Sciences of the UAB.
The 5th FUESE Meeting brought together researchers and academic staff from the 12 Central American and 2 European universities that make up the project consortium.
FUESE is based on the concept of a Culture of Equity as a reference framework. Through policies and practices of University Extension, higher education institutions can strengthen their social impact by promoting the development of socioeconomic capacities among objectively vulnerable groups. Likewise, through actions promoting cultural, socio-community, employability and entrepreneurship initiatives, and by leveraging knowledge, transfer, and innovation from the university sphere in collaboration with the private sector, the university’s commitment to inclusive social development is reinforced.
