The 2nd general meeting of SIRIUS project in Barcelona
On October25 and 26, 2012, the second general coordination meeting of the European network SIRIUS will be held in Barcelona. The purpose of the meeting is to monitor the activities that have been carried out in 2012 and to plan the previewed activities for 2013.
SIRIUS network intents to promote better implementation of policies aimed at the education of children and youth of immigrant origin, both inside and outside of school, from national and European policies based on actual practice. With this motive, SIRIUS focuses on three thematic priorities: in first place, implementation of policies; after that, in school; finally, educational support in community context. These three main thematic focus on four main areas: the overall quality of the school system, diversity in schools, immigrant-student-oriented measures and governance.
SIRIUS was born under the framework of an European project with a duration of three years (2012-2014). During this time, in addition to the various activities and obtain of concrete results in the form of reports, meetings, among others, it intents to consolidate the network subsequently to three years of funding from the European Commission for continuity. The project began with partners from 13 different countries and organizations that supported by experts. There are now new partners from other countries interested in the project. Actually, it already formed a network of 17 countries and more than 35 organizations, including universities, ministries of education and research centers. Project coordination has reached the ERDISC project, which is part of EDO-UAB.
