Coordination meeting of the BIObec project in Vienna

Date of the scientific meeting: 05/09/2023

On September 5, the European BIObec project will celebrate its General Assembly and international plenary meeting in Vienna.

This meeting brings together all the members of the consortium – both in person and virtually – and presents the current state of the project, as well as its 6 multilevel biologically based education centers (BBECs). The Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) will host the meeting, and Davide Viaggi, project coordinator at the University of Bologna, will guide the meeting. Aleix Barrera-Corominas, member of the UAB BIObec project, will attend the meeting in virtual mode and will make significant contributions to the team.

The following day, CTA, a member of the BIObec project, will organize the “Cross-fertilization seminar among BBECs and Roadmap co-design experience”, a hybrid event that aims to bring together a diverse group of experts in the fields of bioeconomy and education. This event is part of the European Bioeconomy Scientific Forum 2023. During this seminar, the road map for the establishment of the BEECs will be presented. In addition, several working groups related to the bioeconomy and education will define the objectives of these centers. Over the course of two days, participants will delve into the BIObec methodology, acquiring practical knowledge through the experience of co-designing the BIObec roadmap.

BIObec aims to create links between bioindustry and the education system by interconnecting universities, innovation laboratories and R&D centers with industrial agents and regions. To do this, the project proposes a holistic framework that combines the traditional idea of an educational center with that of a knowledge center.
