Institutional improvement in the university. The stages of organizational development as an instrument of change

With this study, it is intended to make a proposal for improvement for the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco based on the stage model of organizational development. The work itself was structured into four sections corresponding to the design and development of the study, the theoretical framework, the application framework and results, improvement proposal and conclusions.

In the first section, carrying out the approach and its elements at the beginning of the research were very important because they provided the guidelines and fundamental components of the research, in addition to becoming key pieces to understand the results.

Similarly, in section B the theoretical framework was intended to theoretically support the study, hence the need to expose and analyze the theories, conceptualizations, research as well as the background in general and that are considered valid to be able to frame our object. research. To achieve this, we tried to detect, consult and obtain all the bibliography or any other useful material that would allow us to achieve the purposes of the study.

Thus, in the theoretical foundation, the aspects of organizational change and development were discussed at a general level and specifically in educational institutions and finally the model of stages of organizational development, its conceptualization, elaboration and explanation of each of its components.

This model is proposed by Gairín, and implies the basic idea that organizations present a series of characteristics depending on the stage of development in which they are located. The stages he refers to are: The organization as a framework/structure of the intervention program, the organization as a context/intervention text, the learning organization and finally the knowledge-generating organization.

Given that there was no diagnostic model that included the essential characteristics of the developmental stages model that would allow the educational institution to be detected or located in a certain stage, there was a need to develop one with the intention that the data collected would be so that they provided us with meaningful answers as well as the most important aspects of the functioning of the institution were considered.

Regarding the application framework, at first the scenario where the research was developed was addressed, contextualizing the university in its general aspects and then locating ourselves in the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco. Following the above, the field study was developed and in accordance with the objectives of the research, it was decided to use the case study method with a mixed approach, using quantitative and qualitative information collection instruments to subsequently carry out the triangulation of data. The development of the instruments was carried out according to the categories of analysis and their respective validation was carried out. Each instrument was applied according to the characteristics of the sample.

Finally, section D consists of three chapters. Quantitative evidence appears in the results: Analysis and discussion of the results of the questionnaire. Here the data obtained through the questionnaires applied to the teachers of the Academic Divisions are described, interpreted, analyzed and discussed and for this purpose descriptive and comparative analyzes of the data were used. Qualitative evidence: Analysis and discussion of the interviews. This was carried out by analysis categories and the responses issued were organized into analysis subcategories, being coded for better interpretation. Analysis and discussion of the documents. This was carried out using the divisional development plans presented by their directors. The way to carry out this analysis was using the analysis categories with their respective subcategories. Once the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative evidence was carried out separately, the data was integrated, thus achieving triangulation and therefore analysis from different perspectives for comparison and contrast.

According to these results and in a general way we can place the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco in a certain stage, but it will depend on the category and subcategories of analysis. Likewise, each Academic Division is located in a certain stage, being able to find those that due to their characteristics are in stage one and others that are in higher stages.

Hence, the proposal presented includes several sections, but there will also be a specific proposal for each academic division according to its needs. Since one of the objectives of the thesis was to validate the improvement proposal, the realization of a discussion group, so the results obtained are also presented. Validating the proposal meant establishing its feasibility and viability, which was carried out in two ways, the first consisted of obtaining through group interviews the comments that they considered reflected the feelings of their Academic Divisions, while the second was to obtain It provided an analysis grid for them to evaluate through the options yes, no or maybe if this proposal could be carried out at the university.
