This interuniversity cooperation scientific project (PCI) is subsidised by the AECID in its modality of Integrated Actions. PCI are scientific collaboration programmes that are established between higher education institutions in Spain and Iberian-American countries. In this case, the participant institutions are the UAB and the Universidad de Talca (Chile), as well as the Fundación de Capacitación (FIDECAP) of the Federación de Escuelas Particulares (FIDE) and with that, the CEIS Maristas*.

The initiative forms part of the institutional relations existing between FIDE and the UAB (Department of Applied Pedagogy) that have been manifested to date in the holding of five Postgraduate courses in the management of education centres, a Postgraduate and a Masters in Education Sciences (specialities in Didactics of Mathematics and Didactics of language), various seminars in different parts of Chile, four internships for Chilean directors at the UAB and the presence at the same of more than 10 people on PhD programmes.

Also noteworthy are the relations with the U. de Talca, directly through some of its professors and indirectly in the extent that they also collaborate with the FIDE institution. Also, a proposal signed by managers from the three aforesaid institutions was presented as part of a tender for research and development programmes issued by the Chilean Ministry for Education.

The Project develops two lines of action: That of managers, led by the UAB, and that of language and maths teachers led by the Universidad de Talca. The four programmed years serve for the creation of a map of needs, the establishment of a training programme, the strengthening of curricular and IT media at the service of the addressees and the establishment of an inter-centre support network.
