Ciclos Formativos de Grado Superior: Analysis of their Organization and Functions (II)

Imagotipo CRIEDO
Funding entity: Gobierno de Castilla-La Mancha
Coordination: Grup D.O.

The project analyses the organization and functions of the Ciclos Formativos de Grado Superior (‘Higher Vocational Training Cycles’) offered in the Community of Castile la Mancha, the aim being to detect their strengths and aspects that could be improved and to adjust them as well as possible to the supply and demand for vocational training.

The objectives established for the undertaking of this study replicate and continue those of the study concluded in 2006 (see corresponding file), which were:

a) An overview of the current situation of the Ciclos Formativos de Grado Superior in Castile-La Mancha.
b) Delimitation of the degree of compliance with the aims and objectives assigned.
c) Analysis of situations that qualify the impact and employment achieved.
d) Generation of proposals to improve their organization and functioning.

The complexity of the object of analysis, similar to an evaluation of programmes, as well as the diversity of its application, recommended an approach based on a study of significant cases, a methodology that had already been used previously in studies of vocational training cycles. To do this, a sample was selected of two training cycles (taught at different centres) that satisfies two characteristics: on the one hand, it enables access to a wide range of situations and, on the other, it permits an in depth examination of the explanations for the different situations. All of this in order to cause general trends to emerge and, at the same time, to analyse aspects associated to specific contexts or particular situations.
