Georgeta Ion, Full Professor in the Department of Applied Pedagogy at the UAB, member of CRiEDO, and Vice-Dean for Students and Internationalisation at the Faculty of Education Sciences, has been awarded the Spiru Haret Award for Education and Environment in the thirteenth edition of the Grand Lodge of Romania Awards.
Ion, who is also an Associate Professor at the West University of Timișoara, received this recognition for the article “Beyond formal research knowledge and skills: how do teachers grow and evolve as teacher-researchers,” published in 2025 in the journal Professional Development in Education. The study focuses on the continuous professional development of teacher-researchers and the development of academic research competences.
The award ceremony took place on June 21 at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest. The event was jointly organised by the Romanian Academy, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Culture, the National Council of Rectors, and twelve Romanian universities: Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, the University of Bucharest, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, the West University of Timișoara, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Bucharest, the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Constantin Brâncuși National University of Arts, Transilvania University of Brașov, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, and the University of Craiova.
